Our partnership with the United Way of Southeastern Michigan allows us to provide services to members of organized labor, their families and their communities.
The United Way for Southeastern Michigan strives to be a driving force in making Greater Detroit a top 5 place to live and work by the year 2030. Their mission is to mobilize the caring power of Detroit and Southeastern Michigan to improve communities and individual lives in measurable and lasting ways.
Together, the Metro Detroit AFL-CIO and the United Way for Southeastern Michigan have created a formidable force to engage labor, community members, and organizations around quality services and creating conditions necessary for success across Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.
The UCAN (Union Community Activist Network) Program is an extremely important program used to train activists to go back into their workplaces and make sure that members understand the importance of being an union member. It will point them to services and programs that will not only help them at their local unions but will also help them in their communities.
UCAN is an one day program. Participants only have to attend one session; any of the four Saturdays or the Wednesday being offered:
